From bark to cork

To make cork usable as a textile, it is first boiled after harvesting. This process improves its elasticity and flexibility. After drying, the cork bark is carefully cut and then bonded with a fabric backing – usually made of cotton or polyester. The result is cork fabric, also known as cork leather, which is ideal for making bags and other accessories.
